One of the most common ear infection children are likely to suffer from is Otitis Media, which occurs when the middle ear swells and becomes infected. The condition starts within a short period and is often painful. Your child might be also suffering from chronic ear infections that last for a very long time and come and go frequently.


Children suffer from ear infections frequently because their Eustachian tubes become clogged very easily. It can be caused by sinus infections, colds, allergies and many more. Some of the symptoms include hearing loss, general illness, vomiting, pain in the ear and much more. Once you visit the doctor, he/she will prescribe antibiotics, relief drops for the ears or surgery if the infection is complicated.

As a parent, you can prevent your child from getting ear infections by avoiding pacifiers, washing toys or your child’s hands often, breastfeed your child often and make sure your child is properly vaccinated and immunized.

  1. Asthma

Another common health concern among children is asthma. It causes narrowing and swelling of the airways, making it hard for your child to breath. Common symptoms of asthma include shortness of breath, tightness of the chest, wheezing and excessive coughing. In most cases, asthma in children is caused by allergens such as pollen, mold, dust, animal fur, chemicals present in food, extreme changes in the weather and much more.


The best treatment for asthma is avoiding the triggers, taking asthma medications through inhalers and anything else the doctor advices. If your child’s asthma is as a result of any pets’ fur, you should consider removing the pets from the house. If there is mold in the house, you should also remove it immediately. Finally, during the cold weather, make sure that your child is always warm to prevent any asthma triggers.

Besides ear infections and asthma, there are many more childhood health concerns which include ADHD, food  allergies, fever, urinary tract infections, diaper rash and much more. To keep your child healthy, avoid using too much medication since your child might develop resistance making the symptoms worse.
